Obituary of William "Bill" Daniel Maltase

William D. Maltase, known as Bill, age 78, died from cancer peacefully with family by his side on May 31, 2021. Bill will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 54 years, Karen (Ramberg), and his sons, Steven, of South Lake Tahoe, and Anthony (Michelle), of Portland. He was a proud “Papa” of five grandchildren, Kenya, Anjelina, Isabella, Dominique and Maximus.

Bill was born on August 15, 1942, in Chicago, Illinois to Daniel and Marie (Albertine) Maltase, who preceded him in death. He had fond memories of growing up with his brother, Donald and sister, Deborah Neal. The family lived in Chicago and Livermore, California, before settling in Portland, Oregon, where he met the love of his life, Karen. Together they raised their two sons and enjoyed making memories on family camping trips, at their beach house in Lincoln City, and visiting Lake Tahoe. Bill was a lifelong Teamster with Union Local 81, and worked for Silver Wheel and Tillamook Portland Freightliners for thirty plus years. In retirement, Bill and Karen had many adventures exploring the western states and always returned with a “Bill Story”. He was known for his sense of humor, playing blackjack, fishing, and mostly, his unconditional love for his grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will be held for friends and family on June 16, 2021, 2:00 pm at Columbia Edgewater Country Club located at 2220 NE Marine Drive, Portland.
